Today is the big day! I would like to present to you my Fall-Oween Collection for 2024. I had a ton of fun creating these pieces and I hope you enjoy them.
Without further ado, here they are!
This is probably my favorite piece I have ever painted. For me, this piece represents how I feel when I know there is a difficult time ahead, it is the last bit of calm before the storm. I try to appreciate the last moments of serenity before the chaos. In the same way, I find peace in the chill autumn air, the whisper of the breeze in the drying leaves and the lovely last temperate evenings of autumn before the difficult cold and dark of winter sets in.
I painted this little raccoon friend as a personal technical challenge. I really wanted to work on creating the texture of fur and I felt a lovely, fluffy, striped raccoon tail would be a fabulous way to showcase it. I’m incredibly proud of how this piece turned out.
I’ve gotten a lot of requests to paint cats and once I tried, I figured out that I really enjoy painting them. I find the expressiveness of their tails to be intriguing. It feels strange to enjoy creating cat art so much because in real life, I’m a “dog person” that’s terribly allergic to cats.
This is inspired by all of my little (and not so little) squirrel friends that romp around in my yard drive my sister’s dog crazy. One very curvy squirrel in particular, who we nicknamed Pearl, always scares me when she jumps out of the hole in our trash bin lid.
A few years ago we got a small colony of mice in our basement. I’m a total softy and had to catch and release all of them. Each morning, I would go grab the humane traps from the basement and drive my little mouse friends to the park and set them free. They were always so cute and ever since then I’ve wanted to add mice in my art.
I painted this one simply because my sister in law is obsessed with ducks and keeps sending me cute duck Instagrams. Fluffy little ducks are in my messages just about every day and at this point are quacking around in my brain =)
I’m really pleased with this collection. If you have any comments or suggestions I’d love to hear them. I truly value your feedback so contact me at brittany@artbybrittanycole.com and let me know.
